Nuclei with Tetrahedral Symmetry

چکیده
Received Revised We discuss a point-group-theory based method of searching for new regions of nuclear stability. We illustrate the related strategy with realistic calculations employing the tetrahedral and the octahedral point groups. In particular, several nuclei in the Rare Earth region appear as excellent candidates to study the new mechanism.

Nuclear Tetrahedral Symmetry
It has been recently pointed out that atomic nuclei with tetrahedral symmetry could be encountered all over the nuclear chart. The predictions are based on a very general analysis of symmetries of the nuclear mean-field and are inspired by the group-theory considerations. The implied unique 4-fold degeneracies of the single-particle levels characteristic of tetrahedral (and/or octahedral) symme...
متن کاملAtomic Nuclei with Tetrahedral and Octahedral Symmetries
We present possible manifestations of octahedral and tetrahedral symmetries in nuclei. These symmetries are associated with the O h and T d double point groups. Both of them have very characteristic finger-prints in terms of the nucleonic level properties unique in the Fermionic universe. The tetrahedral symmetry leads to the four-fold degeneracies in the nucleonic spectra; it does not preserve...
متن کاملRotation of Tetrahedral Nuclei in the Cranking Model
The three-dimensional cranking model is used to investigate the microscopic aspects of the rotation of nuclei with the tetrahedral symmetry. Two classes of rotation axes are studied corresponding to two different discrete symmetries of the rotating hamiltonian. Self-consistent Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov calculations show that the tetrahedral minimum remains remarkably stable until the first single...
متن کاملOn Symmetry of Some Nano Structures
It is necessary to generate the automorphism group of a chemical graph in computer-aided structure elucidation. An Euclidean graph associated with a molecule is defined by a weighted graph with adjacency matrix M = [dij], where for i≠j, dij is the Euclidean distance between the nuclei i and j. In this matrix dii can be taken as zero if all the nuclei are equivalent. Otherwise, one may introduce...
متن کاملConstruction of Hexahedral Block Topology and its Decomposition to Generate Initial Tetrahedral Grids for Aerodynamic Applications
Making an initial tetrahedral grid for complex geometry can be a tedious and time consuming task. This paper describes a novel procedure for generation of starting tetrahedral cells using hexahedral block topology. Hexahedral blocks are arranged around an aerodynamic body to form a flow domain. Each of the hexahedral blocks is then decomposed into six tetrahedral elements to obtain an initial t...
